Scanning my Technorati feed this morning, I came across a new blog linking to the Fake Angeleno. The Real Culver City blog used my post about the end of our apartment search to illustrate the fact that the rental market in that neighborhood is pretty hot. The blogger's point: even Fake Angelenos know about Culver City now, so look for skyrocketing rents!
While it's true I should probably just wear a skinny, white T-Shirt every day with "Gentrification Pilot Fish" emblazoned across the chest in American Apparel font, I might add that the asking prices in Culver City offended even my ex-New-Yorker's sense of decency. We were seriously thinking of taking a tiny one bedroom tucked right behind Sony Studios, and then I seriously started thinking about the price. I arrvived at the conclusion it was massively over-inflated. The landlords even wanted us to pay for the washer and dryer hookups! I had to tell them to get real. A month later they're still dreaming the impossible dream on Westside rentals, and I wish them luck.
At any rate, I wish the Real Culver City blog the best of luck and hope to spend some more time in the neighborhood soon. Anyone for a weekend hike on Tara? (That mysterious hill that dominates the C.C. landscape was evidently used to shoot portions of Gone With The Wind...)
