Dear Fake Angeleno readers and friends,
I'd like to ask for your support. Jessica and I will be participating in the Los Angeles County NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Walk on Saturday, October 4 at 10am in Santa Monica.
If you're in the position to make a small donation, we'd be very appreciative.
NAMI is an organization we both believe in. It helps thousands of people directly through education and outreach, and it's also engaged in a political fight to improve the broken U.S. mental health system. NAMI does important work on quite a few fronts including:
- Battling the stigma that still surrounds mental illnesses
- Advocating for legislative reforms like mental health insurance parity
- Providing resources to help those suffering from mental illness improve their care
- Helping families cope with mental illness
The NAMI website is also a great source of information for facts and the latest news about mental health issues. If you're interested, their mental illness facts page is a great place to start.
Also: If you're at loose ends the morning of 10/4 and would like to join us on the walk, we'd be thrilled. You can sign up for our team on the Westside LA Stigma Eradicators page.
Thanks in advance for your generosity.
