It was a really pleasant surprise last week when San Francisco-based author and history professor Peter Richardson left a nice comment on my Hell's Angels post. He found this blog because I mentioned the former Nation editor and California historian and social critic par excellence Carey McWilliams. Turns out, Richardson is McWilliams' biographer, having recently written the excellent American Prophet. Richardson's current project is a book about Ramparts magazine -- a 60's and 70's "new left" legend.

So if you're a fan of California history, great political journalism, or just looking for an intelligent addition to your blog digest, I commend to you Peter Richardson's blog. Check it out!
